Auction Rules

Version of July 22, 2026

Part of the Terms of Service. Civil Code arts. 447–449 (voluntary auctions).

01Formats

  • Timed auctions: a lot is open for a set period; the highest bid at closing wins.
  • Open calls: fixed start and increment ($10 / $100 / $1000 in conventional units), no reserve or estimate.

02Proxy bidding

You state a maximum bid. The system bids on your behalf in minimum increments: the current price equals the second-highest maximum plus one increment, capped at the leader’s maximum. Maximum bids are confidential.

03Bid increments

In timed auctions the increment follows a published ladder tied to the current price. In open calls the increment always equals the tier value.

04Estimate and reserve

The estimate is indicative — neither an offer nor a market valuation. The reserve (if set) is confidential and does not exceed the low estimate; “no reserve” lots sell to the highest bid.

05Anti-sniping

A bid placed in the final 2 minutes extends that lot by 2 minutes from the bid. Extensions repeat until bidding stops.

06Buy now and offers

Before the first bid, a lot with a buy-now option may be purchased immediately at the stated price. Where offers are enabled, a private offer may be sent to the seller; acceptance is processed by the operator.

07Bid retraction

Bids are not retractable. In case of an obvious technical error (a misplaced digit) contact the operator before closing; the operator decides.

08Moderation and algorithmic evaluation

Lots are moderated. The internal algorithmic evaluation (“AI curator”) is advisory to the operator only — not an offer, market valuation or guarantee of sale. See the recommender-technologies notice.

09Results

The winner is notified by e-mail and in their account; the operator issues the invoice. Non-payment is treated as repudiation — the operator may offer the lot to the underbidder or withdraw it, and restrict the defaulting account.
